Rose Oil for wrinkles

Rose oil is an essential oil, an oil that is extracted using steam distillation. Rose oil is usually made from damask (Bulgarian roses) or from cabbage roses. Plants contain only a small amount of oil, so several hundred pounds of plant are required to distill an ounce of oil. As a result, rose oil is expensive but highly concentrated. Many people save money by buying a rose blend–rose oil mixed with a carrier oil such as jojoba. Rose oil is a common ingredient in anti-aging products and has a reputation for preventing wrinkles.

Rose oil natural treatment for wrinkles

Method
Place 15 drops of rose oil in two tablespoons of a carrier oil, such as jojoba, almond, apricot, or hazelnut. Or, buy a rose blend oil that is already mixed with a carrier oil.
Massage into damp skin. You may want to use steam first, to open your pores.
You can leave rose oil on your skin; there is no need to wash it off.

Why It Works

Rose oil contains over 300 different chemical compounds, each of which is said to act on the skin in different ways. Many of the compounds in rose oil are antioxidants and some are antibacterial. As an astringent, rose oil helps to pull the skin taut; as a moisturizer it hydrates. Rose oil is also believed to stimulate collagen production.

Precautions

People who use essential oils find their effects to be nearly miraculous, but no amount of oil will make up for decades of damage done to the skin by poor diet and exposure to the sun. One of the main causes of wrinkles is damage caused by years of sunbathing. If you are worried about skin health, topically applied products such as rose oil will help, but it is equally important to eat a nourishing, balanced diet, and drink plenty of water.

Rose oil is generally considered to be a very safe, low risk product to use. Some people with very sensitive skin have found it irritating. Those who are allergic to roses, or to the plant that is used in the carrier oil, should not use rose oil.
